Blog Tour: ROCK THE BEAT – MICHELLE VALENTINE

ROCK THE BEAT By Michelle Valentine

 Synopsis:
Twenty-year-old Holly Pearson never dreamed that while working at her father’s motocross track she’d run into the walking, talking definition of trouble in a sexy, tattooed package—Trip Douglas, the man sent to evaluate the track for a possible investment opportunity. Holly makes no attempt to hide the fact she despises Trip, but she learns to be civil toward him when he offers to help her land the man of her dreams.

Trip needs a break from the crazy rock-and-roll lifestyle he’s been living for the past few years. With his Black Falcon band mates settling down with marriage and babies, Trip peruses an investment opportunity in motocross, something he’s always been passionate about. Hiding his celebrity status, Trip infiltrates the new business posing as a dirt bike rider training for the X-Games. The only obstacle is the owner’s daughter, Holly. She’s a real ball bustin’ Ice Queen, and she’ll do whatever it takes to make the deal fall through. Trip soon discovers that winning over his new enemy is the key to gaining a partnership in Mountain Time Speed Track.

Knowing he’s the expert on getting laid, Trip ropes Holly into becoming his ally by helping her score a date with the man she’s crushing on. The problem is, the more time Trip and Holly spend together, the more they uncover the undeniable attraction between them. Soon they both realize that even the best laid plans go to hell when you find you’re falling in love with the enemy.

REVIEW

* ARC Provided by the Author

Trip is the sexy tattooed drummer of Black Falcon and has had his own share of heartbreak in his twenty-five years. He is a self confessed bad boy and uses his meaningless encounters with women to satisfy his primal needs while continuously reminding himself of all of the reasons he should steer clear of love. While the band takes a break, Trip finds himself exploring an investment opportunity at the Mountain Time Speed Track where his bad boy charms clash strongly with the gorgeous, yet feisty Owner’s daughter, Holly. Even though this gorgeous tattooed hunk exudes raw sexual appeal and dominance there is a beautifully tender guy inside, one who is utterly compassionate and will melt your heart through the course of Rock the Beat.

Holly is such a fantastic heroine. She is strong, witty and independent and incredibly selfless. At just twenty she has left her college dreams behind to return home and help her father’s struggling business. She also has her heart broken by her cheating boyfriend.  While the relationship between Trip and Holly starts off with an ambiguous and sensual encounter, nothing can diminish the chemistry that sparks between them, especially when it resurfaces with a vengeance once they meet again. These two characters are simply the perfect blend to compliment and excite.

I absolutely loved watching their relationship develop and evolve. While there is infectious and hilarious banter between Trip and Holly initially, it shifts so effortlessly into an incredibly heartfelt story that is simply fantastically written.

This was a beautifully addictive and enthralling instalment in the Black Falcon series and contains just the right amount of angst, heartbreak and sexiness to hold you absolutely captive. There is also a little bit of a twist that Michelle Valentine knocks you over with – another element I adore about her writing is her incredibly ability to create exciting and captivating characters and stories that have little shock worthy moments.

This is one of my favourites in the series. I highly recommend you read it now.
