Flynn Caldwell has a hero complex and it’s one of the reasons he joined the New York City Fire Department. He has spent his entire professional career trying to atone for that one person he failed to save. Because, if he can do that, then perhaps he can be worthy of love again.
She is seeking escape.

Flynn Caldwell is a gorgeous New York City Fire-fighter, still carrying the painful and horrific memories and guilt from his past. It is the determination to save everyone who crosses his path in order to redeem the one that he could not save that is a driving force every time he steps on the job. From the moment he sees the beautifully vulnerable Rowan Page, lying helpless and tethered to a bed that the first sparks of a strong connection between them is formed. Soon, Flynn realises he wants to be the one to save Rowan and help her get her life on track. But when his feelings start deepening what will happen when Rowan makes it clear that a friendship is all she has the capacity to give?
Flynn Caldwell – like many of the Caldwell boys we have met previously- is just a delicious amalgamation of the perfect man. He is a character who imbues a strong sense of protectiveness, generosity, and patience. He is also a man who does indeed suffer from a hero complex and the strong belief of always saving those vulnerable and in danger. Flynn still carries the grief and heavy guilt from the loss of his first love and initially it is the vulnerability he recognises within Rowan that draws him so strongly to her.
I just absolutely adore the way Sawyer Bennett creates such electric chemistry and beautifully descriptive dialogue between her characters. She creates two stunning characters whose deep yearning for one another is palpable and a strong driving force within the plot. The attraction, chemistry and tension that exists between Rowan and Flynn is so evident and so beautifully written. It left me on the edge of my seat on every page as they continuously fight their feelings and the strong connection that binds them together.
I adored Rowan. She is another strong, self sufficient character; however she is one who is left in a very disheartening situation. Rowan is a young woman who has suffered great loss in her life and it is the lack of unconditional love and support that every child deserves that has been detrimental, impacting upon her relationships. She is also a character who riddled with fears that pervade her life; the fear of giving love and the strong fear of receiving it. As heartbreaking as this book was at times, it was stunning to see two very strong, yet damaged characters develop and grow not only individually but together. It was a slow, progressive journey, but one I highly recommend you take. Capone is also the most gorgeous character and definitely worth mentioning. This fury little guy is another one that will just capture your heart and it was beautiful to see him used as a strong connecting force in brining Rowan and Flynn together throughout the story.
It is safe to say that I am a huge fan of Sawyer Bennett and the entire OFF Series. This was a gorgeous and addictive fifth instalment and by far my favourite. Off Chance is a solid depiction of the tumultuous journey love can take you on and the forgiveness of one’s self.
