Jane Black has written the break-up album of the century, earning her a Grammy, a huge legion of new fans, and the pressure to repeat her success. Sure, the heartbreak from her husband’s unconventional abandonment might have been her inspiration, but it hasn’t done her any favors in the dating department. So when Matthew Harrigan, the toughest music journalist out there, asks for an interview, Jane agrees—as long as her personal life is completely off-limits.
British, gorgeous, and way too tempting, Matthew’s the first guy Jane’s been attracted to since her husband. As she spends more time with him and their relationship heats up, though, so does her writer’s block. How can the queen of the break-up pen the perfect follow-up when she’s seriously in love?

Far Too Tempting tells the story of the timid and beautiful Jane Black, who has just achieved great success with her break-up album, which details the erosion of her marriage. After achieving such great success, Jane finds herself stuck in a rut where her fear of moving forward and allowing old detrimental wounds to heal, holds her back. When Jane begins working up close and personal with the gorgeous music journalist Matthew Harrigan, he teaches her that she is a strong, desirable woman. But when Jane gains a slight glimpse of happiness after living in a world of self doubt, she struggles to find balance with the new happiness in her life. Will her fears get the better of her and force her to push away one of the best things life can offer – True Love?
Jane is a gracious and fiercely passionate heroine. She is left utterly and emotionally broken in a sad and incredibly disheartening situation. While I do not want to go into too much detail and spoil the story, I must say I love the way in which Lauren Blakely explored this uniquely refreshing tale of unexpected love. And also the way in which she has created a very broken heroine, who exudes such strengths and determination. The characters within the story are written and developed to perfection and allow you to connect with each one of them on some level, and empathise with certain situations that are explored.
Blakely also has the incredible ability to create the most sensual men!
Matthew *sighs* is a decadently suave, sophisticated and gorgeous English journalist, who will instantly steal your heart with his witty banter, and playful demeanour. He is the perfect complement to Jane.
There is a slow and sensual build up in the development of Jane and Matthew’s relationship, and be warned, as both these characters continuously fight their growing feelings toward one another, you will be left frantically turning the page and utterly consumed!
This is a story that paints a realistic depiction of love, heartbreak and the threads of insecurity we allow to seep in, when taking a chance in a relationship. It is a beautiful story about the discovery of one’s self, truly learning the importance of self worth and acceptance – all amidst the backdrop of music. While these characters steal your heart, I love how Blakely also gives New York its own character within the book. She makes the setting a character with poetic descriptions that make the even most mundane into the whimsical. It is all these tiny little insignificant elements, which turn her books into incredible three dimensional stories that feel so stunningly realistic.
Far Too Tempting is enriched with characters that are incredibly relatable, an infectious and passionate love story and displays how Lauren Blakely has the ability to pull you into the narrative world with fluent, sophisticated and stunning writing. I highly recommend you read it.
5 Beautiful Stars.
