Worth the Fight By Vi Keeland
Publication date:  October 3, 2013
Standalone, HEA

It didn’t matter that the ref called it a clean hit.  Nico Hunter would never be the same.

Elle has a good life.  A job she loves, a great apartment, and the guy she’s been dating for more than two years is a catch and a half.  But it’s boring…and she strives to keep it that way.  Too many emotions are dangerous.  Her own past is living proof of what can happen when you lose control.

Then Nico walks into Elle’s office and everything changes…for both of them.  But what can the tattooed, hard-bodied MMA fighter and the beautiful and always steady attorney have in common?  A lot more than they bargained for.

It took me just until 7% to realise I was madly in love with Nico Hunter. This gorgeous rugged MMA fighter with a big heart and gorgeous green eyes instantly captured my heart and did nothing more than melt it into a puddle for the course of this fantastic novel.

Worth the Fight instantly catapults you into the story of Elle and her meticulous, orderly world which is void of the real passion and connection she craves from another. Elle is somewhat content in her meticulously safe existence though. She takes her job seriously and spends her free time dedicated to her life as a lawyer, and is fine with the simplistic companionship that her long term friend William offers.  But there is no spark there. It isn’t until the darkly alluring, solid wall of seductiveness, Nico, steps into her workplace that Elle feels the first sparks of electricity that shake up her world.

I love the passion within these characters and watching them both come to life after living under their own isolated clouds of self doubt and lament. I also loved that these two characters complimented each other perfectly.

Worth the Fight is written in both Elle and Nico’s perspectives  and it is through the alternation of POV that we learn they both harbor deep secrets and self blame for two very heart breaking situations.

Nico is such a darkly handsome man. He is also a damaged and broken guy struggling in his existence after a devastating event – a gut wrenching coincidence that haunts him and forces him to carry the burden of misplaced guilt on his shoulders.

While his character is dark and brooding at times (in the sexiest possible way), it was his pursuit of Elle that emphasises his dominant streak. And I have a weakness for strong dominating male MMA fighters who also have a heart of gold!

I also adore strong female heroines and Elle is a decisive, passionate and a strong self sufficient woman. But the strength she imbues is just one element to her character, as she is another broken individual, haunted by the guilt and shame of her past.
I love that Vi Keeland has created a heartfelt, angst filled yet intensely passionate love story about overcoming one’s demons and finding happiness. There were moments when each of these characters utterly pulled at my heart, but there was one particular scene that signifies the damage Elle imbues deep within her. This particular scene touched me so deeply it literally brought tears to my eyes. The writing is just that powerful –

“Only when I sit up the sound disappears and the room is silent. Eerily silent. I slap my hands together just to hear sound. I need to be sure I’m awake and the monster is really gone.”

Vi Keeland has created such depth to these characters, whilst the writing is sexy and seductive, this is a sophisticated read that lures you in slowly and devours your attention.

If you are looking for a highly captivating read that will utterly consume you, one filled with angst, heartbreak and the most seductively written love scenes, then this is the book for you.

I always know that a book has truly touched me and worked its way into my heart when I feel that instantaneous need to read it all over again. And that is exactly what I felt after I savoured every single page of this incredible book and reached the dreaded 100% on my kindle.

5 beautifully HUGE Stars

Author Bio

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn’t change for the world.
