From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Dane comes the latest release from Cosmo Red-Hot Reads from Harlequin.
She won’t be satisfied with just one bite….
Art student-slash-bike messenger Wren Davis pursues what she wants. And what she wants now is Gregori Ivanov, rock star of the Seattle art scene. With his tattoos, piercings and sensual sneer, Gregori is the ultimate bad boy. Wren’s gotten to know the man beneath the body art, too—and it only makes her crave him more.
But Gregori loves women like he loves cake and champagne—intensely, but only for the moment. And after Wren experiences just how scorching sex with Gregori is, she’s determined to show him that just one taste won’t be enough…
Cake tells the story of Wren Davis, a young art student who meets the stunningly handsome and mysterious artist Gregori Ivanov, whilst delivering his mail. Over the course of one year, Wren has watched Gregori from a far with a longing for the gorgeous artist that continually intensifies by the day. Gregori has also noticed Wren, but he values this young woman and the addictive companionship she brings him each time he sees her. Gregori is so afraid to pursue any form of a physical and emotional relationship though, despite his intense attraction, in the fear that he will hurt this beautiful young woman who he has become so enamoured with. When the two give in to a heated moment of passion, will Gregori realise Wren is the perfect woman for him, or will Wren realise that nothing but friendship will ever be possible between them?
This Novella was just as decadent and consuming as I imagined it would be when I read the synopsis.
The chaotic passion that Lauren Dane expresses through these characters and art is phenomenal. I loved every single page of this little gem. I just wish it did not have to end! The story is fantastically written and structured to allow you to connect with the characters and gain enough insight into them, despite it being a novella.
Wren is a likeable heroine who is fierce and completely forward in her pursuit of what she wants. And what she wants is Gregori. I loved the slight and refreshing shift in gender roles that Lauren Dane explores. She creates such a strong, confident young woman who continuously pushes the boundaries of the reserved male artist. I absolutely loved that Gregori on the other hand was so sweet, compassionate and fearful of losing the one real relationship he has ever formed.
This novella is a sexy and seductive read that sucks you in with two headstrong and compelling characters. It is a fantastic and highly enjoyable story that you will instantly devour. I highly recommend it!
