Gemini By Penelope Ward
Diner waitress Allison Abraham had no idea her mundane life was about to dramatically change the day she serves a devastatingly handsome customer.
Allison is immediately captivated by the mysterious man who stared through her soul with his electric blue eyes. After he abruptly leaves the restaurant, she can’t get him out of her head.
She has no idea that he had actually come on a mission to find her.
Cedric Callahan wasn’t expecting to fall in love at first sight with the pretty waitress he’d set out to find. In fact, she was the last woman on Earth he should be having feelings for. But his selfish heart had other plans. Feeling compelled to know her before revealing himself; he makes her believe their meetings are coincidental.
After a passionate romance ignites, Cedric’s lies and secrets are finally revealed, changing both of their lives forever.
Gemini tells the story of Allison, a caring and compassionate young woman who has temporarily placed her life and dreams on hold after losing the only family she had.
It is in the small diner Allison works at that she meets the gorgeous and striking, Cedric Callahan and her once simplistic and uncomplicated life begins to change.
Cedric is the epitome of tall, dark and handsome and as Allison sums up their brief electric encounter with this gorgeous successful man as a mere coincidence, she is yet to realise that Cedric knows much more about her than she thinks. As the two begin to continually spend more time together, Cedric struggles to fight his growing feelings for Allison, and Allison can’t deny her feelings either. When the secrets from Cedric’s past resurface, will it bring Allison closer to him or damage their chance of something more, and push her away for good?
Gemini is quite unlike anything I have read. The descriptions are detailed, writing poetic and the novel flows and unfolds into a stunning story that leaves you turning the page in anxious anticipation. It is not every day you come across a book like this and I completely loved it. It was a fantastically written book, that has a plot so well constructed and unique, that it stands out.
The revelations within the plot were not what I was expecting at all, but I found this book to be a completely refreshing story that tells the tale of heartbreaking circumstances that lead to redemption and healing for these characters.
The chemistry between Allison and Cedric was perfect! It slowly simmers and ignites right off the page, and the build up in their relationship contained the perfect amount of intensity. The story is told from both Allison and Cedric’s POV and flows nicely between chapters also, giving insight into the thoughts and emotions they both constantly struggle with.
I found this to be one of those incredibly consuming reads that left me frantically turning the pages to find out what secrets were hidden and how Penelope Ward would so masterfully divulge them through her characters. This book was suspenseful in a light way, and consumed you completely whilst reading it. I loved that Cedric and Allison were captivating, compassionate and likable. I absolutely loved the secondary characters also: Callie, Caleb and Denise. If anything I wish Caleb and Denise played a larger role within the plot, as their story was such a sweet one.
Penelope Ward has created an endearing and heart-warming story that exemplifies the strength of love and the journey of forgiveness. This book broke my heart at times; it tied me up in knots and left me in a perpetual state of anxiety for its duration. That is how strongly connected to these characters I felt. The writing is beautiful and flows nicely, with some flashbacks that are perfectly placed within the plot and allow the reader to truly understand Cedric’s fears about falling in love with Allison.
Gemini is a beautiful, engaging and thought provoking read that I highly recommend you pick up right now.
