The continuation of the tantalizing trilogy by Tara Sue Me that has captivated millions…
Nathaniel West doesn’t lose control.
As the playboy CEO of West Industries, he governs the boardroom during the day; as a strict dominant with exacting rules, he commands the bedroom at night. He never takes on inexperienced submissives, but when Abigail King’s application comes across his desk, he breaks his own restrictions and decides to test her limits.
Abby’s combination of innocence and willingness is intoxicating, and Nathaniel is soon determined to collar her as his own. As long as she follows his orders and surrenders herself fully to him, no one will get hurt.
But when Nathaniel begins falling for Abby on a deeper level, he realizes that the trust must go both ways—and he has secrets which could bring the foundations of their entire relationship crashing down…
I absolutely loved The Submissive and found it to be a beautifully written book that left me turning the page rapidly to find out what would happen next and if Nathaniel would succumb to his feelings for Abigail.
The Dominant is Nathaniel’s story, and begins just before Abigail King’s meeting with the enigmatic CEO as she submits her application to become his submissive.
The Dominant is an insight into the deep personal thoughts of a man who wears a sharp exterior, but deep down is just as afraid to love and be loved as Abigail is. The pace that was set was perfect and the author did not skim over significant or minor events within the plot, which were covered in the Submissive through Abby’s perspective. Tara Sue Me really provided the detail the reader needs to understand just how damaged and fearful Nathaniel is through this book. His thoughts were incredibly humours at times and endearingly sweet as he thought of Abby as his missing ‘one percent’.
While the Submissive is told from Abby’s point of view, it is written delicately in comparison to The Dominant. Nathaniel is open with his thoughts and having his commentary solidifies that he does indeed care deeply about each and every decision he makes. The reader finally learns the reasoning behind Nathaniel’s decisions and how they have ultimately shaped the foundation of his relationship with Abby, and just how deeply she impacts his life. While Nathaniel is harbouring deep secrets he fears will end their relationship, he ultimately learns trust is what is needed and in order to receive it, you must first give it.
As the book progresses the transition from dominant to lover for Nathaniel is clear and I thoroughly recommend everyone who loves the Fifty Shades Trilogy by E.L James (of which was loosely based on Tara Sue Me’s series) and The Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day, read this Trilogy.
There was also a special sneak peek into Chapter 1 of The Training (The Submissive #3) at the end of the book, and let me just say, it looks just as enthralling as you imagine it will be!
It is highly recommended that this Trilogy be read in order. I truly believe it is more impactful to learn Nathaniel’s inner thoughts after reading the entire story from Abby’s perspective. You can appreciate the story in it’s entirety a lot more this way.
I honestly cannot fault this book, I loved the Submissive and I found this instalment complemented the trilogy immensely. Some of my favourite books are those that are re-told from the male protagonist’s perspective and this is definitely one of them.
This was truly an amazing read, and I found myself staying up until 3 am just to finish it.
