The steamy conclusion to the New York Times bestselling and #1 Amazon bestseller New Adult novel DAMAGED by H.M. Ward.
Home isn’t supposed to be dangerous, but for Sidney it is. Returning home means that she has to face her past. It’s not just the man who hurt Sidney that makes it horrible, but the family that didn’t believe her. They were dead to her, but now that her mom is really dying things seem different. It’s a chance to set things right.
What Sidney doesn’t realize is that she’s dragging Peter into a collision course with his past. Peter must deal with the demons haunting him if he wants to move forward with Sidney. He’s willing to give up everything for her, even wade deeper into his past life to help her move forward. But, Peter isn’t sure if he can get over what happened to him in New York.
Damaged 2 picks right back up where the first book left off, as Sidney is faced with the difficult decision of returning home. As Sidney makes her decision, she discovers a big secret Peter has been hiding that drastically changes everything that she believed she knew about him. The new Peter H.M Ward introduces the reader to is not the same gorgeous gentleman that we previously met, this Peter is a hardened, determined and mysteriously dangerous man with a much stronger violent streak, when faced with the responsibility of protecting what he loves. As Sidney embarks on her long journey back home to visit her mother, Peter is determined to be there to support her, whether she wants him after her discovery or not. Even though Sidney and Peter work towards building their relationship, there are still certain factors and insecurities that threaten to ruin what they could have, and after everything Peter has been through, is he ready to risk the possibility of losing someone he loves again?
The sexual tension this time around is ten times stronger than in the first instalment as Peter and Sidney continually fight their feelings for one another for a whole new reason. Without giving too much away, Peter is a completely different man. Strong, sensual, confident – somewhat cocky and dominating – he is not the same sweet Professor Peter from Damaged. The development of Peter’s character was fantastically written, as was the banter between the hero and heroine – which is feisty and definitely witty. We are also introduced (or reintroduced – for those who have read The Arrangement series) to the members of Peter’s family, on Sidney and Peter’s journey to visit her mother.
H.M Ward creates the perfect balance of emotionally damaged and hardened characters who are at times mysterious but also remain realistic. The situations are at times humorous, ridiculous, and heartbreaking, as is the way in which these characters deal with the aftermath. Nonetheless, Damaged 2 is a highly fast paced and captivating read. This book truly feels like a journey for these two characters as we follow Sidney on the road to her past and her future. We get a glimpse into what the future holds for these characters that so desperately deserve happiness and contentment after all the obstacles they have faced both together and individually.
